Video Update: February 2015 – Unpacking our mission statement

by CCMBC Communications

In June 2013, the Canadian conference executive board gathered at Stillwood Camp and Conference Centre to seek the Lord for the right words to describe our focus – our mission – for the coming years. As we sought the Lord together, he began to coalesce in us, through the power of the Spirit, words to capture what we felt we were being called to. For the past year and half, we’ve vetted those words across the country with leaders, churches, pastors. At Gathering 2014, delegates affirmed the new mission statement in principle. We were then tasked with finalizing that statement, which was done by the executive board at our January 2015 board meetings. Our new Canadian Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches mission statement is: “We exist to multiply Christ-centred churches to see Canada transformed by the good news of Jesus Christ.”

Hey Willy,
thanks for the clear articualtion of why we are here in this country.
i will be showing thisvideo to our church – I want them to see what our mission statement is and to here it from our Canadian Director.
this is important also even in light of the same sex marriage that took place in a Mennonite Church in Saskatonn that hit the news.
i had our people asking me is that an MB Church. they were very disappointed and i assured them that is not our denomination.
i trust that we wll always hold firmly to teaching of Scripture which is one woman and one man united for life.
God bless you as you continue to walk in the Spirit and clearly articult the truth regardless of where our culture is at.

Dear Henry,

Thanks for your comments.

Regarding the same-sex marriage ceremony that occurred at Nutana Park Mennonite Church, may I point you to the following statement issued by CCMBC’s executive board in January 2015: https://www.mennonitebrethren.ca/news/ccmbc-statement-re-nutana-park-mennonite-church/
