Pines Bible Camp tragedy

by Roger Villeneuve

On Friday, July 20, at approximately 5 p.m., Pines Bible Camp and Retreat Centre in Grand Forks, B.C., was hit by a severe windstorm, killing one camper and leaving widespread damage.

At the request of family, the name of the 11-year-old boy who was killed when a tree crushed his cabin has not been released. “The cabin leader escaped with only minor injuries and showed extreme courage and wisdom. We are so proud of our staff and the manner in which they carried out our evacuation,” says camp director Gene Krahn. All other campers are now safe at home.

The camp is now closed for the season, but a restoration project has already begun. To donate or volunteer, go to www.pinesbiblecamp.com.

Faith continues to sustain families, staff, and campers, who were all hit hard by this tragedy. Please pray for everyone involved – that the Lord would provide wisdom, peace, and healing. You can leave a message for the camp on their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/pinesbiblecampandretreatcentre.
