You’re invited to join Mennonite Brethren across Canada as we enter into the new year by praying together. The Canadian conference will be holding our annual Week of Prayer January 21-28, 2018, and would love you and your fellow church members to join with us in praying into the theme of waiting.

You can sign up to receive daily email reminders during the week of January 21-28 by clicking here or catch our daily posts on Facebook (@mbconf) and Twitter (@CdnMBPray) using #CdnMBPray.

To help you and your church plan ahead, we have made a downloadable PDF of the 2018 Week of Prayer guide, available in both English and French. It is also available on ISSUU and hard copies were included in the January issue of the MB Herald.

Ways to incorporate Week of Prayer at your church might include:

  • Encouraging your church to participate as individuals or in small groups
  • Posting it on your church website
  • Planning prayer meetings during that week
  • Incorporating it in your church sermon (sermon outline available here)
  • And more!
We pray that this will be a helpful resource for you and that putting aside this week to dig into the topic of waiting will be a blessing to you and your church.

  1. Thank you for this valuable resource!

A good resource and hopefully many Canadian churches will take part, especially on Fellowship Sunday Jan 21 (Mennonite World Conference has a great resource for this).
One question – this week is widely recognized and named “Week of Prayer for Christian Unity” – wondering why as MB’s we have excluded this aspect of it?

      Hi Rick,

Thank you for your comment! MB conference leadership has been intentionally fostering a culture of prayer over the last several years. This initiative is timed to coincide with the prayer focus many other churches/organizations observe in January. Our executive director chooses the theme for a group of writers from our MB family to explore.

We welcome your stories about how your congregation has used the resources, within your congregation or in concert with MWC’s World Fellowship Sunday materials or community ecumenical initiatives.
